UNM SMITH PLAZA PROGRESS
Since January, the design team for the University of New Mexico's Smith Plaza Renovation, collaboration between McClain + Yu, MRWM, and SurfaceDesign, has been hard at work gathering input from the university community for this re-imagined "living room" of campus. This input informed the team's initial design, and we were excited to recently present the team's work to the community over three days and gather feedback. The responses have been outstanding and the team is looking forward to progressing the design.

ENMU NATATORIUM RENOVATION
McClain + Yu designed the renovation – including a complete overhaul of the locker room facilities for improved circulation, finishes, lighting, and accessibility. Careful attention was given to a faithful restoration of the original pool mosaic tile signage. Additionally, the locker room, pool deck and edge are being refinished. The Facility is scheduled to re-open in May 2017.
UNM CORONADO HALL RENOVATION
McClain + Yu designed the renovation for the 252 bed dormitory constructed in 1958. The design modernizes dorm rooms, shower and toilet rooms, and provides improvements to common space. Additionally, the renovation plan includes improvements to universal accessibility. Construction is planned for Summer 2017 with student initial move-in scheduled for the Fall 2017 semester. Currently Phase 2 is being planned.
NMT NEW DATA CENTER
Construction is about to begin on New Mexico Tech's new Data Center. McClain + Yu developed a plan focused on creating a flexible facility capable of change and modular growth to accommodate future needs.
CLOVIS HIGH SCHOOL RESTROOM ADDITION
To meet the growing needs of Clovis High School, McClain + Yu has designed an addition to "the Rock" gymnasium.

McCLAIN+YU and mPOWER have collaborated on several design explorations since 2012. They are now awarded the AIA UPJOHN research award to create a demonstration project utilizing the DRAGON SCALEs (TM).
RECIPIENT OF THE 2016/17 AIA UPJOHN AWARD
Kristina H. Yu as PI, of University of New Mexico and McCLAIN+YU Architecture & Design, is the recipient of the 2016/2017 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Upjohn Research Award. She is working with a highly skilled team from McCLAIN+YU and mPOWER. This collaboration stems back to design research projects to 2012. They will utilize the DRAGON SCALEs (TM) to create a demonstration project for interior building and cladding systems.
McCLAIN+YU in collaboration with artists, Michael Lopez, Andrea Polli, and the Bernalillo County Public Arts Project Commission are working on the mobile Tactical Arts Platform (TAP). TAP can be utilized as place for theater, place for the directing of public performance below, place for display. The team is excited to see how the public will use the TAP to create inventive, innovative events of engagement.

A vibrant and energetic crowd of from the Young Architects Forum takes part in a #hardhattour of McClain + Yu's Green Jeans Farmery. The issues raised by the group spoke of their interests to see new and innovative building types created in the city of Albuquerque. They had great questions about site conditions and construction challenges.
