rOSWELL INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION AND EDUCATIONAL SERVICES CENTER

ROSWELL, NM

The historic building, originally constructed in 1929 as Roswell's Junior High School, is an important building within the community to preserve. Over its 92-year history, some partitions have been added, but the building remains intact, housing classrooms, offices, and other spaces. In order to create greater functionality for the new inhabitants of the Roswell Independent School District Administrators, the building will require modernization.

The primary focus of the current project is to replace the HVAC system in the "old wing" of the building. The entire existing system will be replaced, and a new system of ducts and fans will be installed to bring fresh outside air into the building, ensuring improved air quality and climate control. In the interior spaces, ceiling-mounted fan coil units (FCUs) will be located in newly suspended ceiling areas. These ceilings will conceal the new ductwork and provide an opportunity for the installation of modern lighting fixtures. The new ceilings will be designed to avoid conflicts with the existing high windows and maintain a sense of the original ceiling height, preserving the building's historical character.

The project also includes the installation of a new chiller and boiler. Fire sprinkling will be added to the boiler room, and the lower level (first floor) will be sprinkled in order to comply with all codes. The entire "old wing" will undergo reroofing to ensure the building's structural integrity and prevent any water damage. The existing windows will be replaced throughout the "old wing," improving energy efficiency and enhancing the building's appearance.

The project's main objective is to upgrade the building's infrastructure, particularly its HVAC system, roofing, and windows, to ensure a comfortable and energy-efficient environment while preserving the historic elements and charm of this beloved building.
